AAA Top Repair Shop Indianola

AAA Top Repair Shop Indianola

When I decided to go into business on my own, I did it because I was not happy with the way my previous employers were conducting business. I knew the positive reputation that Chumbley’s Auto had in the community of Indianola Iowa. This helped me make the decision to partner with this business. So I bought, and continued to grow it, and conduct Auto Repair and Maintenance in the professional, ethical manner that I had set out to do. Proving that it could be done – the right way. Well for the 5th year in a row now, it make me proud to be recognized by American Automobile Association – AAA , to be one of very few in the state of Iowa to receive the approval of “AAA Top Shop” 2015. This award make me proud to have been apart of the movement to make a “Customer Friendly” Auto repair shop. A shop you can trust and be comfortable to send your Wife, Mother, or daughter to – and not be talked down to, or taken advantage of. It comes easy to us ... read more

We will retain 3 techs at the main shop, along with Keegan, Jackie, Mark and Tim. This Van is getting a new engine installed by ASE Master Tech Josh Truman

Simpson College Auto Care Service Center

Simpson College Auto Care Service Center

My kids are not out of Community school yet- but the day is getting closer. When that happens, I too will have to source my “go-to-team” of professionals I can call on to help my Son – or daughter out of a jam. Sure I will go over the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure it is ready to leave on the College voyage. But their is always the freak accident of locking keys in the car, or hitting a object in the road and causing a flat tire – you know that kind of stuff. I will look for a facility that employees are ASE Certified, and has a nationwide warranty of at least 2 years / 24k miles. A place that gives back to the community and the college or school. Here at Chumbley’s we are those guys for you! I just hope I can find a Chumbley’s where ever my kids attend

A Noise from my wheels

Here at Chumbley’s, we often receive phone calls asking about a noise that appears when the wheels are rolling or stopping. It can range from and grinding, or squeaking noise, to a rhythmic click type noise. I will say that the most common causes are 1) worn out brake parts. 2) lose lug nuts ( Always have them “re-toured” after about 50 mile travel – post wheel installation on the vehicle). 3) Road debris – rocks wedged into places they are not to be. Those are the top three causes we see. If you hear any type of unfamiliar noise coming from the wheel area, stop in to Chumbley’s Auto Care in Indianola, IA and request that someone simply go for a ride around the block and listen to your noise concern. We will be happy to help, and may save you a lot of headache

Hunter Wheel Alignment

Hunter Wheel Alignment

Chumbley’s recently added a brand new “Flush Mount” drive on wheel alignment rack. This rack is set into the floor, to be “level” with the shop floor. The advantage is several. No damage to low to the ground cars. Less shop ceiling height needed. No drive on ramps needed. Keep us in mind the next time your car / or light truck needs some attention in the steering or suspension

Hybrid Car Payback / Cost

This is a run down of added cost of Hybrid car VS a normal Gas motor vehicle. The actual calculations will depend on the types of vehicles selected. I will give you two examples to compare. Let’s say that you are considering purchasing a 2005 Toyota Corolla or a 2005 Toyota Prius – both have excellent fuel economy. A Prius (hybrid) may cost around $22,000, while a comparably equipped Corolla (non-hybrid) may run around $16,000. It is estimated that a Prius will achieve about 55 MPG (combined highway/city), while a Corolla will achieve 34 MPG (combined highway/city) with an automatic transmission. If you only considered fuel costs the following would be true. At 100,000 miles the Prius would have used about 1818 gallons ($4091) of fuel while the Corolla consumed 2941 gallons ($6617). To calculate gallons, take the miles driven divided by MPG (e.g., 100,000/55 = 1818). If gas prices averaged $2.25 a gallon, the Prius would have saved you about $2,526. Since the sticker price ... read more

Facility of year Award – ASA Vision Show Midwest

Just about each year for the past 10+ years, in early March we enjoy taking part of the Automotive Service Associations Midwest “Vision” Show. The reason we like this event is it gives us a chance to get out of town, and go to the big city of Overland Park KS – suburb of K.C. Mo. Then at Vision we meet some of the Industries great minds. They come in the form of great technicians, and great trainers teaching us new methods to Analyze a vehicles issues more accurate and faster than before. They also have a killer trade show that features the latest products. It is always a good time for us and promotes good team building. New Financing Option at Chumbleys

New Financing Option at Chumbleys

We are exited to offer a new consumer finance option that works in partner with Napa Auto Care program. Here is a brief synopsis of how it works. A consumer wants some time to pay for those un-expected repairs, or a large maintenance service. Simply fill out a online application, and once approved -response is very quick. As long as the finance amount is larger than $300.00 then the consumer has 6 months to pay this off. Making a min monthly payment, and as long as the total is paid in full by the end of the term, then no interest charge will occur. And as a bonus the plan extends the already industry leading 2 year 24 month warranty to 3 years, 36 month on the repair service financed. This makes purchasing that needed set of tires much easier! Stop in or call, and talk to our staff about how we can help you get your vehicle repaired and some time to pay for it as you can

Auto Repairs, is cheaper better?

Auto Repairs, is cheaper better?

In an age where money and budgets are tight, we all want to get the biggest bang for our buck…right? In this post I want to drive home the fact the cheaper is not always better. Also See: government bid process. A good friend of mine always used to say, ” you can’t beet a man at his own game” . Meaning, if you need drywall done, have a drywall professional do it. It will be done right and you will save time, money and be happy in the end. Some people want the pride in doing the job them selves. That is OK. Do it for that reason. So you are wondering, where are you going with this post Chum? And here it is. I will tell you a story , changing names of course, to protect those involved. The story is about a family with a old “beater” truck. The kind that dose not get used a lot. But it did let them down, just when it was really needed. It was when one of the kids wanted to move stuff to college. The reason the truck let them down is that it had to be towed in. The reason it wa ... read more
